Nice Old Town from Parc du Chateau / Castle Hill
Castle Hill- the site of the first town founded by the acient Greeks, then the first mediaeval town, today's Castle Hill preserved only a few foundations and fragments of walls, but the park and botanical garden offers unique vistas over Nice and its surroundings, a surprising artificial waterfall, remains of the former 11th century Catedral, walkway paved with colorful 20th century mosaics.
The midday cannot shot- in 1861, to respect the military tradition of the midday cannon shot, a Scottish winter visitor, Sir Thomas Conventry-More, paid to have a cannon set up on the Castle Hill.
